Our experienced professionals will come to look at the pool in person to see if there are any visible imperfections. We will note all issues and take photos for reference. You will receive the written quote shortly after. We will then discuss everything and answer all questions. Once everything is agreed upon, we will then organise a start date.
Before any work is underway, we will always do a site inspection to make sure our workers leave the area in the same condition as we arrived. Then we will begin to drain the water from the pool. Once empty we will check/remove the hydrostatic value.
We will always brace an empty pool to insure the pool shell does not collapse or move in any way.
We will sand the layer of the old paint (epoxy or gel coat). If osmosis (water blisters) is preset, then these will also need to be sanded enough to open the cavity that is hidden behind.
Any open cavities and cracks will need to be backfilled or layered with fibreglass, depending on severity both may not be needed. This step has some drying time therefore our workers may not be onsite for very long. We will always allow the backfill to set overnight.
Once the backfill is completely dry we will sand all repaired areas to be flush with its surrounds. This will make for a smooth finish later on. All surfaces will then be cleaned to prepare for fibreglassing.
When the surfaces are clean and dry, our workers will then roll on vinylester resin (adhesive), mixed with catalyst (setting agent) for the fibreglass sheeting to stick to when placed on the surface. Another layer of the adhesive mix will then be applied on top of the fibreglass sheet.
Again, this step will also need to dry overnight.
We will need to sand any imperfections that appear on top of the fibreglass layer. This step is needed a few times throughout this process to keep the surface as smooth as possible. Following this, any debris will be cleaned before the next step is underway.
The filler coat (under coat/primer coat) will then be rolled over all fibreglassed surfaces. As the name suggests, this is to fill in the visible fibres and create a bond between the fibreglass layer and the gel coat layer.
This is the step that brings everything together. The colour you have selected is called gel coat. Gel coat is a thick substance that will protect the pool from water penetrating into previous layers and also allows for a level finish.
*On all steps we strongly recommend anti slip powder which is a sand like substance to help prevent slips and falls. The anti slip powder is mixed into the gel coat and placed in any areas of concern.
When the previous layer has completely dried, all new jets, values etc. will then be fitted.
*Before refilling we recommend that the pool sit for 5 days to cure. This is to make sure the pool chemicals don't interact with the paint.
After the pool has cured we will begin filling with water and double check the new hydrostatic value is functioning.
*We are also able to do a start up service at the customers request. This helps our customers not be overwhelmed by the maintenance of their newly renovated pool.
